Repurpose your Valentine's Day Flowers

Repurpose Your Valentine's Day Flowers

Arturo recently got me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers! Seriously I do not think he could have picked a better selection! It had eucalyptus, blush roses, lilies, daisies, and other beautiful white filler flowers. I just knew I had to come up with some creative ideas to prolong their existence! Here's one more picture to capture their beauty!

Below are 3 different ways I prolonged the life of this bouquet...

1. Make your own potpourri

Simply dry out your petals and place in a beautiful container. Some flowers dry nicer than others. The rose petals are my favorite to dry. After they dried out I placed them in a suspended hurricane candle holder I had from Joann's. I searched all over their website to leave a link for you guys but alas I could not find it. However I you check at your local Joann's I'm sure you can find one. They are great for filling with holiday themed décor...not to mention the subtle warmth from the candle helps the room fill with the aroma of the dried petals.

Here it is proudly displayed on my desk, where I previously had the bouquet. I did not have a candle to light at the time but y'all it's seriously so beautiful with a candle in it!

2. Flower Petal Suncatchers

Needed supplies include: flower petals, scissors, and transparent contact paper.

Begin by cutting out a circle of contact paper, peel off the liner, and place the sticky side up...

grab your kiddos...

and add some petals!

This became more of a "mommy craft". He just became fascinated with the stickiness.

Next cut a large piece of contact paper to fit over and trim away the edges to match up with your circle once you've firmly pressed it over the flowers.

Our end result. Not the prettiest one we have ever made...but it turned out beautiful! I love how it looks in the sunlight every evening.

(For the record: These are the prettiest ones we ever made.)

3. Flower Bath

Have you ever seen those ridiculously styled bath pictures on Pinterest and thought to yourself...how impractical...but at the same time longed for one of your own?? Haha, yeah me too. Well grab some flowers, bubble bath, candles, and your favorite book and pamper yourself. You deserve it!

It's not Pinterest quality but it sure was relaxing.

I hope you enjoyed this little blog post and it inspired you to try some different things to prolong the life of your Valentine's flowers. I'd love to see anything you try so please send me pictures in the comment box or head over to my instagram ( @itspracticallystylish ) to communicate with me there.

Happy Repurposing!
