Mini Apple Butter Favors
These mini jars of apple butter are great for party favors, gifts for neighbors, or individual place settings at your family Thanksgiving.
If you have a little one in the house it won't take long to save up those baby food jars. They are the perfect gifting size and it's always good to repurpose!
It's not the most glamorous set up, but it gets the job done.
Here's the recipe I sort of follow...I'm a rebel that way.
2 1/2 cups Brown sugar
1tbsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
6lbs mixed apples
1tbs lemon juice lemon juice
1 3/4 cup apple cider
Peel your apples, dice them up, and place in crockpot. Add all of your other ingredients, give it a good stir and place on low for 10 hours. Once your mixture has finished cooking you'll need to use your favorite form of a blender to give it that smooth consistency. I prefer to use my baby bullet. All that is left is to pour into your baby jars and add some cute personal touches.
I had some spare fabric from a previous project that I cut into little squares to give the jars that country feel. It helps if you use some hot glue on the lid to keep that fabric in place. Tie some twine in a cute little bow around the fabric to cinch it in. Now how cute are those?!
What could be better than an apple butter pyramid?!
When dropping it off as a gift, I like to fill a clear gift bag with some raffia before plopping it in there for some added cushion. Tie that bag off with some more twine as well and it's good to go!
Here is our family's personal big batch. I just had to share a picture because it's just too cute! We got that jar topper when we visited a local apple orchard earlier this fall season and I just LOVE it!
I'd love to see how you adorn your jars and hear your tried and true apple butter recipes!
