Valentine Sensory Sticks

Valentine's Day Sensory Sticks

Let me just start off by saying you can easily change the colors of this to make it usable any time of the year. These work for toddlers and older children alike. You can use them for a simple sensory activity or for a Valentine themed game of memory.

Needed Items:
-craft sticks
-washi tape (in Valentine's day colors or print)
-scissors
-nail file (optional)

I got all of this washi tape on an end cap at Wal-Mart 2 years ago a few days after Valentine's Day. They were less than 10 cents a piece!

Place the washi tape on one side of the craft stick and trim edges as close as possible. For a really clean finish, file the edges.

To make the sticks into more of a sensory activity find a tall cylinder container and cut a small rectangle in the lid. I used an oatmeal container. Decorate the container if you'd like and then show your little how he can put the sticks in the hole. Ezra is at the age where filling and dumping is a constant favorite, so he absolutely loves this!

Now to play memory just make sure you've used each washi tape twice so it has a matching pair and leave one side of every stick blank.

These also make great party favors if you are having a Valentine's Day get together with kiddos. We had so many sticks and tape leftover that we whipped up a couple extra sets to give out as gifts to nearby friends. I hope you enjoyed this post! Have fun playing with your kiddos and Happy Valentine's Day!
