Valentine's Sensory Bean Bin
Sensory Beans: Valentine's Edition
I love the pastel pink hues of this sensory bin, but if I'm being honest I was going for much more vibrant beans in this sensory bin. Nevertheless, I will tell you how I achieved this end result.
You'll need:
-red & yellow food coloring
-rubbing alcohol
-16oz bag of light colored beans
-Ziploc bags
Divide the 16oz bag of beans into 3 equal amounts, each in their own separate Ziploc bag.
Next put a cap full of the rubbing alcohol in each bag.
Now add your food coloring...
pink-a few drops of red
red-many drops of red
coral-a few drops of red
with a few less drops of yellow
Now give each bag a good shaking until all the beans are coated.
Immediately following the bag shaking...spread out the beans onto cookie sheets to dry overnight.
You may want to put a barrier between the beans and pan to prevent staining.
And there you have it! They are definitely not as vibrantly colored as many of the other beans on Pinterest but I just love the light blush hues it gives off when all mixed together...making it just as fun for mommy to play with too. I will also say this is much easier to clean up than the sensory rice we made earlier this week...so if you are not big on messes this may be the route to go. I don't messes so much when it comes to sensory play so I love the both, and so does Ezra.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day Spaghetti Sensory
Valentine Spaghetti
This sensory spaghetti is no different than the kind we made a few posts back (click here to see this post) but we did do different colors. We followed the same coloring we did in our Valentine Sensory Rice post (click here to see that) where we wanted to achieve a pink, red, and coral color scheme.
Pink-a few drops of red
Red-many drops of red
Coral-a few drops of red & yellow
Be careful not to add too much yellow when mixing for coral...otherwise it comes out with more of an orange tint, than a pinky coral one.
I just love the way these colors look when mixed together! Be sure to check out my other posts under the holidays and kiddos tabs to see other fun activities to try with your littles this Valentine season. Have fun getting messy with your kiddos and have a Happy Valentine's Day.

Petal Pull: Valentine's Day Sensory
Sensory Petal & Fabric Pull
You Need:
-wipes container
-faux flower petals
-ribbon/fabric scraps
Decorate your wipes container, if you desire, and fill with all sorts of soft Valentine sensory goodness. Your littles will love pulling different items out one by one.
Here is a variety of petals, ribbons. and fabric scraps I included in mine. I tried to stick with the Valentine's Day theme and color scheme.
I hope your little has as much fun as mine has had experimenting and exploring this fun, simple. cheap. and easy sensory activity.
Happy Valentine's Day!
DIY Valentine's Day Sensory Rice
Valentine's Day Sensory Rice
Like most of my themed posts, this is not secluded to just Valentine's Day. Simply change the colors and you have an activity that works all year round. I however have an obsession with holiday themed things so I just knew I had to take our new sensory obsession to another level.
What you'll need:
- 1 gallon Ziploc bags (3)
-12 cups of white rice
-9 tablespoons of hand sanitizer
-yellow food coloring
-red food coloring
I wanted to have red, pink, and coral rice. Start by putting 4 cups of rice in each of the Ziploc bags. Then add in your 3 tablespoons of hand sanitizer in each bag. For your pink bag you'll just want to add a few drops of red...no more than 5. Seal your bag and give it a good mix. For the coral bag you'll want to do the same amount of red as your pink bag but then add 2 or 3 drops of your yellow. And of course for your red bag you'll just want to add a lot of the red dye. I used 10 drops in mine to begin with and had to go back and add more in the bag after mixing because it wasn't as vibrant as I was hoping.
Once you've got all of your rice mixed really well in each bag take them out of the bag to spread out in a cookie sheet to fully dry. It dries pretty quick, however the sanitizer smell can still be a little overwhelming so I left mine to dry out over night.
Transfer your rice over to a sensory bin or any larger container you have and add some things to play with in the rice. For a tutorial of the craft sticks click here. Enjoy and have fun playing with your kiddos. Happy Valentine's Day!
